Default Camshaft Oil Flow

How does the 1992 - 1995 1.6L Vtec SOHC motor lubricate the camshaft lobes and rocker pads? I would like to add extra oil to these components.

Is the oil distributed via the lost motion assemblies or spashed around after exiting the primary intake rockers? If via the lost motion assembly is it via the circumfrence of the plunger/piston or via the hole in the bottom of the plunger/piston

Can anyone explain the process including the purpose (reason for orifice size) of the oil hole in the side of the lost motion assembly and the oil control orifice in the head.

Is there a way to increase oil flow to the cam or is one restricted by the lost motion assembly design.

Ive never seen anyone who has had oil lubrication issues with a D series head. You might try http://www.theoldone.com I belive that they have a kit available for the B series head to add more oil to the head.

Good luck

there is no need to try to add more lubication to the cams and lifters........they get PLENTY of oil........just use good oil and you will be fine.

We experienced trashed rockers and cam and really no physical explanation why.

On this teardown the only thing we found (beside wrecked cam and rockers) was a hard as a rock oring around the oil control orifice in the head. We are hoping that was it, and moved on, I replaced the oil control orifice c/w new oring and reassembled. We added an extra oil line to the head similar to the "B" Series left everything else the same.

Well, except for the oil pump modifications done by Larry at ENDYN.

Will keep you posted
