ok.
id love to see what you are talking about. i cant picture how the oil jet location
could be damaged since they sit on the oil rail in the block.

I had/have three GE blocks none of which have oil squirters in them. They get stamped out when they sleeve the engines. How are you using the squirters then?
are you sure, this is not possible ? GE simply bores out stock sleeves and presses in new sleeves, they do not touch any of the oil rails, yet alone the squirters. I have 3 GSR blocks from GE and all had the holes untouched for the oil squirters. Mabe you're mixing up what we mean by oil squirters ?

I think i might be mixing some terminology up. I looked for pics of GE sleeves blocks in FI search, but coming up with nothing. What exactly do you guys mean by oil squirters?

oil jets are those 4 nozzles that throw oil at the pistons

Do the oil squirters really matter if your using aftermarket forged pistons? I was under the impression that the factory pistons have holes in them to accomodate the use of oil squirters for better cooling whereas aftermarket pistons do not have those holes. Just curious....

Forged pistons are fine without oil squirters... I personally don't like them because they just unbalance the rotational assembly... Forged pistons disipate and take heat a lot better than OE cast... I don't have problems building LSVTEC's etc. without oil squirters and OE pistons... they seem to do just fine... Just my thoughts.. Latez

I might as well ask the experts...

94 B18b
b16a2 head
usdm type r pistons
gsr girdle (should be on its way it i dont get scammed)

would you guys use the oil squirters and itr oil cooler on this set up?
I have b16a2 oil squirters that my buddy can give to me for free. so its just a matter or installing it.
oil cooler, i was about to buy one for $100 shipped for all the parts to make the itr oil cooler mate up to the block, but ran low on cash.

Should i install these two items? This will be a daily driven car, taken to the track/dragstrip occasionally (maybe 5-10 times a year?)

and does installing an gsr girlde really cost 400-500 dollars?!?!?!

Well your correct on the oil squirters. I dropped the oil pan on my 2.0 gsr engine that is sitting on my engine stand a second ago, and it has the oil squirters. I put the freakin' things in and i didnt even notice. on me. I was thinking of the Darton sleeve install my friend got on his gsr block, the oil squirter holes were not there after he got it back from his local machine shop.

Installing a girdle on your LS block is going to be costly. Check out these threads:

They will give you an idea on what is involved for installing a block girdle to your LS block.

The shop that did his Darton sleeve install was doing it for the first time. I wonder if they took out more material than they were supposed to. I called and ask my friend and he confirmed that the oil squirters werent installed b/c there wasnt any holes to install them in anymore. Makes me wonder about their install...

About your question, use the oil squirters and oil cooler. Put it this way, both items wont do any harm. The oil cooler isnt the best cooler out there, but its OEM and you know it will work. I have always used them on my b-series blocks. My GF's d block getting built is having one installed and the coolant pipe is getting the extra nipples tig'd onto it.
