an oil cooler keeps the temp of the engine oil lower therefore making it last longer before it breaks down due to thermal stress. It is usefull if you are a racer or like to get on it a lot. Lower oil temp helps engine run cooler as well.
For your everyday street use casual driver there really is no need for one and when you add one, it is just another place for something to leak out of...

how much usually does a oil cooler cost??
the cheapest one??
also, after the oil cooler is installed, does that always have to move the oil filter to another spot from the stock spot??

Don't forget, with an oil cooler, you need a block adapter and remote filter mount (or just a sandwich plate), oil lines, hose fittings, the cooler itself, and install hardware. Depending on your setup, the hose and fittings may cost more than any other individual part. It's not uncommon for a complete system to exceed $3-500.
You might find a kit that's priced at $100 for everything, but would you trust your motor to it?
Some cars must have oil coolers. Porsches were aircooled until 1999. But all of there engine used at least 10 quarts of oil and they all have oil coolers. They provide 20-30% of engine cooling in those cars.

i have the B&M unit. it's definitely not Greddy but it gets the job done. the B&M does come with a filter relocator but the nice thing about greddy is that the sandwich adapter has a thermal switch

B&M cooler are okay. You would be much better off with a quality unit like Setrab, Earls, or Fluidyne. I believe the Greddy is made by Earls. THe Greddy sandwich is a nice piece too.

check the hybrid board http://www.hybridgarage.com. AT did like an $80 oil cooler with all the same parts that the more exp coolers have. ss lines are ss lines. good fittings earls or aeroquip fittings are prolly better than the fittings on most kits. the core is the only thing in question and as long as it isn't leaking, they are all the same...imo
