oil changes
"Honda recommends the manual transaxle fluid be changed every 30k miles. Use 10W-40 motor oil with an SG or better rating."
This is taken directly from my Chiltons service manual for 84-95 civic/del sol.

The drain plug is on the lower side.. it's an large hex-head plug on the underside of the tranny. You'll probably have to jack the car up to get to it. You'll also need a little funnel with a rubber hose attached to the end to refill it, unless you like getting tranny fluid all over the place. It's not that hard, just takes time... pour, wait, pour some more, wait... keep pouring until some starts to dribble out of the filler hole on the side of the tranny.
I changed my tranny fluid about 15k miles ago when I rebuilt my CV joints and used 10W-40 like the Chilton's manual recommends. Haven't had any trouble at all with it, but when I do it again I'll probably use honda's MTF or Redline like Rspool says.
