I have used Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my 98 LX since 1000 miles was on the odometer.
How about on an engine that has supposely 30k when I get it? I heard it's not good or it doesn't do anything more to use synthetic oil on a car that has previously used regular oil for a long period of time.

Any facts behind this?

Thanks!

How do I know what oil to use since the engine is being bought from an online store? How do I know what kind of oil was used and if it was even changed ever??

That is why I ask what oil should I use.

Continue using the same mobil 1 that you've been using.

Synthetic oils never cause leaks. Since they clean and leave less deposits, they tend to uncover leaks that regular oils cover up.

When choosing the right motor oil and right viscosity weight, it should be based on:

- Driving conditions (ie. stop-and-go, highway, etc.)
- Weather conditions (ie. winter, summer, etc.)
- Driving habits (ie. heavy foot, aunt millie, etc.)
- Oil change intervals (ie. lazy, poor, wealthy, etc.)

That's one of the best pieces of information I've even gotten from this board!!

Thanks!
