Default Offset wheel sizes...

Ive been watching these Best Motoring videos and ive noticed on most of the FWD cars they are running 225/40/16 - Front and 205/50/15 - Rear tire/wheel setup. I wanna kno if any of u suspension gurus can tell me why and how this would benefit. Does it help wit this goddam understeer i always get?

Default Re: Offset wheel sizes... (Lekz)

there was a big thread on this in the road racing/autocross forum. basically Japanese tuners don't run high rear spring rates. They'd rather use a smaller rear tire contact patch to help the rear end rotate. the bigger tire up front obviously helps in turn in and grip. Thats why when you check spring rates on like TEIN or JIC or any Japanese coilover or spring kits the front rates are always higher.

At least thats what everyone says. Most US road racers use high rear spring rates and an adjustable rear bar.
