Default OEM ECM options for better fuel delivery.

The car is a 94 GSR. I've removed the IAB valve body altogether. Consequently, as soon as V-tec engages, the engine is getting more air than it is programmed to provide fuel for, which, or course, puts me lean from 4400-5750rpm. I'm currently running rich as hell in every other RPM range to compensate for this & was wondering if there is a "quick-fix", if you will. I'm going to get a Hondata as soon as I can, but until then, is there an OEM ECM option for me? I'm not sure of V-tec crossover points in other V-tec engines, or their fuel maps, so any help would be appreciated.

When you say IAB valve body do you mean that you removed the plate in the intake manifold that holds the secondary butterflies?

Yep. That's called the IAB valve body.

I've tried asking questions similar to this and had little luck. The stock answer is the right one, get something to tune it properly, but you know that and are already going to do that. I wanted to clarify the IAB thing because I've seen people confuse it with the IAC and all kinds of things. Haven't read any of your previous posts so I didn't know who I was talkin to.

It's cool, I hear you. I've seen similar questions go unresolved also, so I didn't really think that I'd get a final answer, but you never know, so it doesn't hurt to try. At least I didn't get any serious, "Put the IAB back in.", replies! It boggles my mind that it seems like not very many people have tried this & stuck with it, so there really is a lack of good info. And what really sucks is that I KNOW there is a site that has all the different ECM's & their specs, but I have no idea where it is.

That sucks. I know Hondata has a lot of good info, but not the detail I'd love to see.

The ecu doesnt change the fuel for the air flow. If it changed, removeing the iab would trigger the engine light. If its too rich the problem is elsewhere.

yeah man, all the full techs seem to be away right now, which is a bit frustrating, but it will come good.

all i can think of is using a B16A ECU with a more aggressive program, will this work? no need for IAB point, plus you could program the VTEC point too?

hth,

t..

Which is why I'm running lean from 4400-5750rpm.

It's running rich because I've up the fuel pressure substatially to compensate for the lean condition through this RPM window. Point being that if I can get a computer from another V-tec car, that computer will be programmed to provide more fuel at the V-tec crossover, wherever it may be, which would be BEFORE the 5750 IAB crossover. More fuel sooner = less time running lean.

Anyone know where the V-tec crossover is in an ITR?

best thing you can do is to have the P72 chipped, there are many programs for single butterfly intake:
J's racing is excllent offers ITR mapping for OBDI cars

as far as VTEC crossover in ITR it all varies on the TPS, but its roughly at 5.5k rpm
