OEM codes returning after new trans install
I have a 98 Honda Civic EX that failed emissions with coses P0700 and P0740. I just had (as of in 2 hours ago) a new transmission installed. As I was coming home (65 miles) the check engine light came on again and the same codes are showing up. The trans seems to be shifting just fine. So how do I get these codes to go away long enough to pass emisisons and get my tag (that expired in December)??
Any help would be appreciated!!

The codes are "P0740 as a malfunction in teh electrical circuit for the torque convertor clutch". That is why I had a new transmission installed. I just don't understand why the codes are coming back after the install.
did you check the wires?
Circuit means around, there must be a complete electrical path to and from the TCC apply solenoid (or whatever ckt it is reffering to). If there is not a complete path, then it doesn't matter if the sensor is good or not. That code just means that there is no circuit, the computer can not tell you if the open is in the wires or the solenoid.
The manual will provide a diagnostic flow chart.
