Default OBD2a P72 wiring issues....

Ok, i am in serious need of some assistance / guidance. I posted about it in my build thread, but it may serve better being posted here. So, when i bought my car back from the previous owner, it looks like the VAFC2 i had installed on the car was re-installed on the car at some point and was installed pretty crappily (word?). it worked, but it was really hacked together. to fix the situation with the factory wiring, i bought a boomslang harness as well as new ecu male plugs. i de-pinned and re-pinned each wire from each plug individually so i did not get them mixed up. i had to repair a few sections of wire and had to add a few new wire crimps in the process. so, all is completed, i hook up the vafc2 to the boomslang, and i get nothing. thats when i started noticing other things werent working as they were before. i still do not know if the car will actually run, i'm not that far along in my rebuild yet. BUT, i have clearly screwed up something with my de-pinning and re-pinning. i double and triple checked the few diagrams i have found online and it certainly appears everything is where it is supposed to be. i'm not sure where to go next. this is the only thing that i changed on the factory wiring harness. i really, REALLY do not want to track down and buy another in cabin harness and just start over with that. that just sounds terrible to replace. I noticed on the pin out diagrams that there are a few wires that are the exact same color that go to different plugs. Maybe its possible i mixed one of those up? I'm really not sure. I'm looking for some sound advice on how to start trouble shooting this situation. i know its definitely something i did, because prior to disconnecting the VAFC2 and de-pinning and re-pinning the new ecu plugs, everything that i could see worked on the car as it should have. i took a video of the odd stuff the car is doing now too, i'll get that uploaded and linked back to this thread.

edit, video link:

I know you're not going to want to hear this but dump the VAFC. It's old tech and will add nothing to your setup.

Oh i know its old. My car was dynotuned with it years ago and that was my main reason for wanting to keep it for now. It the least of my concerns now though, i have it disconnected at the moment while i try to figure out what the heck happened atthe ecu plugs. In the video, this is just the factory harness plugged into the ecu. No boomslang no vafc

.:FFS TechNet : OBD2a ECU Pin out Schematics :.

This is the diagram i used during my de-pinning and re-pinning, BUT some of these colors were off from what my car had before i started anything...so i'm not 100% sure if i should start over and follow this guide. i really feel like that is what i have to do i start completely over again with this process. This is my concern...i understand there are only so many color combinations you can have in these harnesses, but how do i tell the difference between 2 different wire uses that are the same color? for example on connector C - Pin 10 is white/blue, and so is pin 13. I'm sure i've come across others but those are the first 2 i spotted.

any ideas?

does the helm's manual have a section in it that shows what each pin on the ecu is? i've looked through it a few times and i can't seem to find it if it is in there.

I have not done anything with the wiring yet, but since the CEL is on in the car i decided to scan it. Then things got weird...i decided a video would show the situation better than just trying to explain it.
