Default obd2 ECU code retrieval?

There is a way to retrieve obd2 ecu trouble codes by a series of turning the ignition switch on and off. I did it once before on a 99 teg but lost the instructions. I need to retrieve a code on my gf's 98 Accord v6. Does anyone know the sequence?

Assuming the Accord is like an Integra, there should be a blue, two wire connector above the passenger side kick panel. Jumper that with a paper clip and turn the ignition to the run position. Do not start the car. The check engine light will flash the codes.

That's how you retrieve obd1 civics. Is it also how you do obd2 Accords?

Like I said, there's a sequence with turning the ignition switch on and off. I'm sure someone here knows it but my luck they aren't reading this.

I believe you need a code reader to get OBD2 codes. If you go to Autozone, they will read them for free.

Look in the Accord forum. Jumper 2 of the pins in the OBD-2 connector to do the flashing-CEL stuff. I don't remember which pins but there's a good thread with a picture...

No you don't. You can access them either by jumpering pins on the obd2 connector or by a series of cycling the key on and off a number of times and waiting a number of seconds between cycles then watching the cel.

I'd prefer not to jumper anything to avoid accidental frying of the ecu. And I dislike autozone so I'll only go there as a last resort.

Thanks JimBlake.

I have another question for whoever can answer it: According to this diagram https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1502084

I'm supposed to jumper pins 8 and 13. What I need to know is how you identify the pin positions. Do you look at it from the front side and count left to right starting at the top row? Or do you look at the backside of the plug like you would when identifying ecu pin locations?
