OBD II scanner?
id like to get one eventually. the cheapest setup i found is one that connects to a PC with an adaptor. its $275 from obd2.com. you guys know of any cheaper prices?
also, i know on the civic/teg you can short out a connector to pull DTC's, is that possible on the bigger hondas? ie. TL?

yeah the scan tool is made by Snap on and plus in right behind the radio on integras and civics i think. The whole scan tool system costs close to 2000. You have to buy the hardware and the software
I have an OBD II scan tool manufactured by Mac Tools that will retrieve and clear codes, including temporary DTC's, give a list of common OBD II codes and will be upgradeable in the future via eeprom chips all for the price of $199.00.. can't beat that price and its one of the most precious tools in my box...
Just after I bought mine, they came out with the same model as mine with all the different connectors to accomadate the different plug designs.. same price.. $199.00
I bought mine roughly 2 months ago...

A quick question on message mark-up.....I wanted the above link to be connected to the word "PST-500"...so that you can click on PST-500 and it re-directs you to that website....I'm sure its trivial....how do I do this?
Appreciate the help.

I got a scan tool rom MAC for like $300- it can pull/clear codes, do very little output testing and is a bsaic generic scan tool- The Honda scan tool (mastertech) with Honda software offers 3 to 4 times the information in datastream mode and can be used to do many other tasks. It is pricey. If you buy an inexpensive OBD2 scan tool, I suggest you get one with datastream capability and at least 4-5 lines on the screen.
Does this scanner display sensor readings at the time of the CEL, before, and after? Or does it just tell you something like, code 22 for example?
I was talking to my Mac Tools rep today and discussed these very tools, I found out they have many different OBD II scanners available starting at the $199 model I have, another model for $300 like fixhondas mentioned, all the way up to the higher price models..
I searched the Mac Tools site last nite but did not see a listing for these scanners.. I did however get a part number from my tool guy..
Mac Tools #ET9040
