Default o2 sensor or thermostat

which is most likely to cause a signifigant drop in fuel economy?
a faulty thermo or a fouled o2 sensor?

thermostat shouldnt have anything to do with ur fuel...

couldn't a broken thermo (stuck open) constantly be cooling the block and inhibiting the engine's ability to reach normal operating temps?
(thus putting the ecu into a loop?) correct me if i'm wrong

It could, but if your engine is staying dead cold then i would hope you would be educated enough to replace the thermostat.
