Default o2 code 41???

Hey everyone.....I have been throwing cell code 41, so I tried to replace my o2 sensor......still throwing the code.....

Anyone have an idea how to get this code from being thrown? Is it something besides my 02 sensor?

Thanks,
Dustin

Usually means faulty sensor, but sense you replaced it already.... I would say check your wiring there could be a short in the heater wires for the O2 sensor. I just fixed my code 41 and that was the problem.

I see you did a swap into a CX. CX uses 1 wire o2 sensor, SiR II uses 4 wire. Use a 4 wire o2 sensor and your code 41 will disappear.

I had the same problem but with a VX. See thread:

When i wired in the new sensor, i made a new harness and wired it into the ecu......maybe i did that wiring wrong......anyone have a diagram just to double check that I did it correct?

that is for secondary o2 sens if you done a transplant or your using a usdm ecu or any of the follwing p13.p72, you are going to get this code thy a chipped euc and remove the sec o2 and its cool or get a pr3 or p30 ecu normally cx dont come with a second o2 just wire it in if you know how or hit me back i do those things all the time cool

As for the code 41 O2 heater malfunction. You already have the WHT wire going to the D14 pinout(if you had the 1-wire 02 hooked up).
You should have two BLK and one GRN on the O2 sensor.

Match as follows:

BLK -> Yel/Blk to the A25 pinout or to the power junction harness on the driver shock tower harness.
BLK -> Org/Blk to the A6 pinout which is O2 Heater Control
GRN-> Grn/Wht to the D22 pinout which is Sensor Ground.

It does not matter which blk goes to where, just as long as they both go to their direct pinouts.

i recently had a certified Honda Mechanic look into my problem, i am throwing a code #1 in Flash, but its the same problem as you have described. The scanner's are saying that there is something to do with the heater wire being bad, so my friend said that he's going to re-ground a wire or something along those lines. ill tell you results after he helps me out, and tries to fix it. But it might be a couple days, hes helping me rebuild my B16 head for now.

if you can't get a certified Honda tech. to look at your car just follow the pinouts to the sensor and make sure there are on shorts ........

WHT wire going to the D14 pinout
BLK -> Yel/Blk to the A25 pinout or to the power junction harness on the driver shock tower harness.
BLK -> Org/Blk to the A6 pinout which is O2 Heater Control
GRN-> Grn/Wht to the D22 pinout which is Sensor Ground.

if there is a short, then how would you go about fixing it?

A short can result from many things, cut wire, exposed copper wire (from rubbing on somthing), etc.. Any of those will disturb the signal to the ecu, therefore thats why the ecu gives you the code 41(Faulty sensor or wiring short, is what the helms say). So in this case you would look for any of these possibles among the four wires between the o2 sensor and ecu, then fix them by either taping, reconnecting or soldering them.

Its also nice to have the helms guide wiring diagrams ready for DIY.

Hey, dustinsterk,

what engine harness are you using?
Did you use a 92-95 EX/Si engine harness or did you reuse your CX engine harness?

I ask because all 92 civics are prewire for a 4-wire 02 sensor from teh ecu out to the shock tower plug, but the CX engine harness is not prewired for a 4-wire 02 sensor.

That is very wierd b/c my friend just finshed his swap into his '92 CX and he DID have a 4-wire O2 sensor on his CX wiring harness, I put it in my self.
