noob with h22a rex
so i traded for this 90 crx si with h22a swap. theres no efan on the radiator and i think he said no thermostat. hes been driving for a few months and says it never overheats..... should i run it or take the precautions to correct this?
btw this is my first post. id hit the search button but im unsure what to lokup lol. first time owning a swapped honda.

hi, i'm running a large nissan zx300 aluminium rad on my f20b racer. it needs a fan once racing. i only do about 6-8 laps of a quarter mile oval but thats enough to push above 90* even with a 14" fan and no thermostat
you have a huge engine in a small engine bay. you NEED a radiator.
You may have issues trying to install a CRX radiator so you'll want to look into installing a rad from an 92-2001 civic (aka EG and EK civic) as they take up half the room.

He has a radiator just no fan. YES you need a fan

it has a blackworks racing half radiator. im just asking about an electric fan. the kid said something about the thermosta housing i dont remember what it was but i looked and theres one there just dunno about thermostat
wow no wonder honda guys get a bad name.
basically im asking what to do here. i got this thing and i like it alot, but im no honda guy. im a car guy but never really got into hondas. just need some friendly advice here. he says hes been running it for months without a fan and it never gets hotter than mid way up on temp gauge.

shouldnt you be fine without a fan as long as you keep airflow?? thats what the fan does, i drive a car that has a broken fan, all it does it overheat when your stuck in traffic but you could just turn on the heat and when you move again youll temp will cool back down...DUH
lmfao yea. i text the guy and he says there is no thermostat because of the different filler neck? basically im a noob and learning as i go. i know very little. ive been around camaros and the like my whole life. 30 is kiinda late to get into hondas ,lol, but i always wanted a crx. im telling u what this things like a friggin street legal go cart lol. fast as hell, good mpg, cant beat it haha. i think im just gonna get a 10 inch electric fan, but heres my question. it has a p05 chipped ecu and i dunno if i should get a fan with its own controller or try to wire it in the harness. any suggestions?
so lemme ask a question, do u think this car is worth 4k? i know that it has m2a4 trans, chipped p05, two piece no name ss header, magnaflow 3" exhaust, password jdm intake, crower springs and retainers, arp head studs, wire tuck with trunk mount battery, blackworks half radiator, coilovers but unsure which ones(tokico i think), blox lca's, megan tie bar, drilled/slotted rotors, enkei rpf1's on brand new ecstas, headlights i think are painted yellow lol, innovative solid mounts, act sprung 6 puck clutch and thats all i know right off lol. i personally think i did good but just wondering what the scene thinks lol.
OK, first things first.
The car is worth whatever you were prepared to pay for it, seems like there is enough "stuff" in it to justify $4000, not that I would pay $4000 for someone else's build., now $4000 for a stock CRX in good shape, [no rust] maybe.
You should install a thermostat and a rad fan, I run a full size Mizu racing rad and my rad fan never comes on unless it is stinking hot and I am auto-crossing ans spraying my 75 shot, and even then it very seldom comes on and when it does it's not for long, I can let the car sit idling for more then an hour in the hot sun and the fan will not turn on.
So if overheating is not an issue then technically you do not need the rad fan or the thermostat, however, the thermostat is not just there to control temp. from getting too hot it is also there to allow engine to heat up to proper running temperature, in a timely fashion and if the rad fan never comes on it's not a big deal, but if it is needed, [stupidly hot day and your stuck in traffic] your going to be very glad you have it,
As for rad fan control, just get the adjustable rad fan control, keep it totaly independent...
This is the Hayden Automotive 3647 ...

You do not have A/C so this one, Hayden Automotive 3653 would work...

And it is cheaper. 94

besides the hood and the paint chipping its got no rust lol. but i had seen these going for 4-7k depending on mods and how clean it was. basically i traded for my 96 ss camaro i was trying to 4500-5000 for but it needed some things. i got something else in the trade that goes boom lol. so i figured me not knowing too awful much about these things it was about even. i went up and got a 10 inch fan and that first hayden kit and ill be putting it on today or tomorrow. gotta find a thermostat after. ty for the people who helped out. unfortunately i have 4 kids and dont have alot of time to research like i want lol.
ok another question, i have a cel and i dont know how to pull codes on these ecus. i looked it up and i found a blue connector in the kick panel so i jumpered it and the cel stayed solid. ??? its a chipped p05 btw.
I don't know a lot about chipped ECU/ECMs in swapped engine cars, a solid CEL when trying to pull codes indicates a defective ECU/ECM.
Do you jump the connector and then turn on the ign.?
What is the engine from, what OBD is it, has there been an OBD "swap"?
I got the impression your car was running fine and the only issue was the rad fan. 94

It's got a chipped p05 in it its an obd1 cx ecu. It says b16 one1 on a label on the side lol. I got this car with the cel on. The cel light doesn't even flicker when the blue connector is jumpered and then ignition turned to on. It runs ok except it idles at 1800-2000 rpm
no the tag on the ecu. lol. the engine id is h22a. the ecu is a p05 but has a piece of tape on it that says b16 obd1. i found a friend of the guy who originally built the car and am waiting to hear back from him, but he says it is tuned from a pro. doesnt know if crome or what. basically does anyone know if an ecu is tuned if it will flash codes still?
