Default Non vtec ECU with vtec motor?

I recently got a non vtec ecu for $5 out of a wrecked car off of a friend. I wanted to know if it was possible to chip this so that it would work with a vtec motor. It's from a 94 LX Coupe, I want to use it for my d16z6. Can I buy a cheap chip from eBay with vtec crossover? I also have a Apexi VAFC, so can I adjust the crossover on it even if the ECU isn't programed for vtec? Any information is appreciated, thanks
Matt
