Noise in engine?? 1989 CRX-si
I am new to imports, and have a question.....
I have a 1989 CRX-si with the D16A6.
The car runs very well, but when revved up, I hear a loose sound almost like spare change jingling around in the motor.... It does not smoke or use oil....and no other symptoms except the noise. This noise is barely noticable at idle, but is VERY loud when revved up....almost like a bunch of washers on a bolt jingling around when moving up and down...??
The car only has a intake and a header/exhaust for performance.....
Any ideas on where to start looking???
I appreciate any help anyone can offer.....

if its cutting off below 7k its going to be your timing. i had the same problem with my car (its also a 89 crx si with the d16a6) after i replaced my timing belt. it sounded like loose change in my engine when ever i would rev it high. so i checked my timing and it turns out that my timing was off. i had it off by a tooth or two. i corrected the timing and the noise went away.
The car only moves up to about 5,500rpm...never had it higher...
The motor has about 100,000 on it...
I traded for the car, and it was doing this went I got it.
It does it from 2K to 5.5K... louder the higher ofcourse...
I am not sure if the valves have been adjusted.....
I will go to timing first..... Any other ideas let me know....and thanks!!
