No VTEC - B16a Help... I've tried everything I know !!!!!
I have a civic that had a motor swap, it has no vtec, It was tested when the motor was warm/ hot.
1>the VTEC solenoid has been tested (it was jumpered & there was a jump in oil pressure)
2> the temp gauge & the speedo work
3> NO CEL.
4> oil level is good

How much oil pressure? Your using a vtec ecu?

I'd say check the wire from the ecu to the solenoid using a wiring diagram, if that isn't it make sure you have the right ecu.

I'm using a vtec ecu. I donot remember the oil pressure reading. But when it engaged there was an audible difference.
"I'd say check the wire from the ecu to the solenoid using a wiring diagram"--- I attempted that got lost along the way (I found the pin on the ecu... b16 if I'm not mistaken ) although I'm not too sure how to test it with the test light . since it activates around 5k rpm when the car is in motion

I wouldn't check the ecu with a test light because it sends back a small voltage and can hurt you ecu, don't do it use a digital multimeter.

I 'm not too sure what to do with the multi meter, I'm just aware of the beep noise mode.- "It beeps when a power manages to flow from + to -" I 'm also not too sure how to test the circuit .

is there any way to bypass the vtec solenoid wiring in the ecu like the oil pressure switch? (search
