i need help please, i have a 97 accord lx 2.2 sohc, car has no spark watsoever, we changed the wires, coil, distributor, stil nothing. ecu is working fine. wat else could it be guys?

Check the ignitor. I think it is in the distributor as well on that one. These commonly go bad, and cause a no-spark condition.

 

i took it to the dealer to get a diag, they said its the starter???? tru???

 

and your not getting spark?

does the motor rotate over when the key is in the start position? if it just clicks then it could be starter or battery. if it does then it is either the ignitor or something like a main relay. get in the car shut the door, turn the hey to run, but dont hit the starter, and see if you hear a single click at the same time that the engine light goes off. If you hear the click, then the main relay is ok. In this case it will be the ignitor, or a fuse.

 

wel it was getin spark on and off last week, 1 day, the next couple days no spark.
took it to the dealer yesterday, they said they got spark, and its the starter thats dead. no click or nothing when i turn the key,batt is good because all the lights work and windows, radio.

that has nothing to do with spark dude. if the battery is ok its probably the starter solenoid, try to start it and have someone gently tap it with a hammer.

 

I think there is a starter relay fuse, just to be safe, check ALL fuses engine compartment, and the fuses under the hood. Fuses should always be checked first on any electrical issue.

 

yes i checked all the fuses, there fine. any way of checkin the coil /distributor? im totally stumped.

borrow a distributor and install. That`s the easiest way. If it works, than you have narrowed it down to something in the distributot. Only takes 5 minutes to throw a new one on.

 

Are your spark plug wires going to the correct plug-in on the distributor?

 

how do i test the ignitor?

 

just plug it in ....if the car starts then it works if it doesnt work, the car wont start or just plain runs like crap.....sometimes you'll get the flickering/wild tachometer needle effect too..

 

im askin how do i test the ignitor to c if its bad?

 

get a manual and a multimeter and check resistances for the ignitor test.

But if it won't turn over then the ignitor isn't the issue right now. get it to at least turn over (starter) then go from there.

car starts, but just doesnt turnover, ive performed tests on the ignitor, and coil , and also swapped distributors, everything is good in that aspect. where should i check next? relay? where is the main relay located on the 97accord lx 2.2no tec?

Maybe you're confusing us by saying it that way...

I always thought 'turning over' means that the starter is cranking the engine. Even without any fuel or spark, your starter should turn over the engine.

'Starting' sounds like it fires & runs.
