alright i just changed my thermostat, and befor that i had carbord infron of my radiator. while i drive hwy the temp gauge reads normal but when i come to a stop or drive city wide, my coolant drops?
Sounds like thermostat is stuck open, at highway speeds the engine is working "harder" so coolant heats up, airflow and the rad fan will keep temp. at "normal", at city speeds there is less steady load on the engine, if thermostat does not close, engine coolant will cool down. 94

i dunno if thats it, see my headgasket went bad and it over heated, bad coolant leak, i noticed it in the exhaust, and had a hard time starting the car in the mornings, now thats all fixed. but heat is now an issue, just sucks cuz i feel like a teenage girl, i had to much, now i cant get enough, lol.
take the stat out and see if it is open at all. you can put it in a pot of hot water on the stove and watch it open.. then make sure you bleed all of the air out of the system.
The problem here is not is the thermostat is opening, but is it closing, the symptoms, [low engine temp. and low heat] indicate a thermostat not closing, or, as mentioned, not closing at the correct temperature, too low. 94
