Default Next Worthwhile Upgrade

Selling my nitrous, and gauges, to get some upgrades...

probably have about $400 to spend

With mysetup..

Basically Stock B16a2
AEM CAI

i was thinking JG Victor X IM? ditch the AEM CAI, and get a bigger 3" short ram? (for some reason i have seen lots of people running these over the full CAI lately)

How about a nice set of cam gears and some dyno time ?

not the greatest first upgrade but you're working with 400

I'd say a set of "R"camshafts + adjustable camsprockets + "R" intake manifold + dyno time. Can never go wrong with those 4 items.

and then an ecu upgrade. and then ....and then...

V-AFC, then ctr intake cam, then itr intake manifold, keep the AEM over short ram
oh, and take out the back seat and spare tire!

Are you running headers yet??

In order I'd go headers (If you dont have them), exhaust, intake manifold, ctr intake cam, itr exhaust cam etc etc

i don't have headers yet, but i am thinkin' the VAFC because I have a GSR ECU, and im told it runs a little more rich than a b16 ecu because of the 1.8 v. 1.6L displacement. and VTEC engages too early (4400) vs. 5500 rpm.

thanks for all the info,
mike

p.s. anyone else? bueller? anyone?

bueller ? bueller ? hehe

ACTUALLY I change my original suggestion with this new bit of info - If you're running the GSR ECU now then actually I'd recommend getting a re-map for a B16...there's a few people to get it from if you need a recommendation let me know.

why get an ecu remapped when you can have complete adjustability with a V-AFC? Not only will you most likely run rich with it but it won't be dialed in to you r setup unless you get hondata or something such as that. I guess if you want to change your rev limit, but with your stock cams and valve train there really is no need, Id wait till after you upgrade the top end, until then, take control of what you already have working for you. I say go for more cam and air flow first, then tune.

I would go with a 4.785 FD or an OEM LSD. You'll be very satisfied with the improvement.

oh yeah forgot about the transmission...
If you want a cheap way to upgrade your acceleration, buy a used flywheel (respective to your engine of course) and have it machined down to about 12-13lbs. You'll definitely enjoy that!
It's not that expensive either, unless you go with some aftermarket billet f.wheel which are well over $250.

Personally, a lightend stock f.wheel does the jobby for me.

You can use ANY B-series flywheel that will repsectively work with your engine & tranny combo. Type-R yes, but it doesn't matter if it's type-R or not; once you take it to the machine shop to get shaven down, they're all the same flywheel.

You'll have to look around on your own for prices on a clutch kit for your car, prices can range from $0-$4xx for a clutch (pp and disc).
