Newb questions sr20det
I've done some research on the internet and haven't found a good answer yet. I've found a really nicely done s13 coupe, 1992 I think, silvia panels and everything. Nice paint, no decals, nothing that looks rice. Lowered all kinds of goodies. Not very expensive, either. The thing that is holding me back is that it does not have a/c. I'm sorry, but I live in California and I get hot in the summer. A/C is something that I want! Now, common sense tells me that there are plenty of s13's in junkyards and getting the a/c unit may not be very hard. Installing the a/c may be rather difficult however. Next... I priced out an sr20det engine. The swap would be done DIY. Would the 240sx a/c unit out of the USDM version of the car bolt onto the sr20det and work on a USDM car? the current owner seemed to think that it would not work. The same happens with the power steering. Does anybody have experience with this?
Also, does the turbo, intercooler ect come with the engine that you order? I know things like the ECU and transmission do.

That site is weak...there is only one place to go for SR questions ranging from Basic to Advanced... http://www.freshalloy.com
First off...there is NOTHING hard to install on a 240. Simplest car to work on in the world. Check some of the classified sections and some websites of places that sell clips like enjuku racing, jgy customs, heavy throttle to see if you can get the necessary A/C parts. Heavy Throttle has a pretty good FAQ that you can check out as well for quick info.
As far as what parts you get....all depends on who you order from and what you want. I think the best bet is to get just a motorset (engine and tranny only) and go standalone. JGY Customs in VA got a set to me within two days of ordering and it was CLEAN. You will almost always get the turbo. Stock intercooler is basically worthless...go Front Mount. The wiring harness and ECU is up to you. Or, you can get a whole clip which will raise the shipping cost considerably.
AIM: midcnichols if you have any questions.
