There are a couple of different starter threads going now on HT. Different problems. Does the starter turn over in the car? Does the starter turn the engine over?

test the switch at the clutch and see if it completes the circuit when its depressed.

Bad clutch switch was the answer, or a question?

So my situation is similar but the car only seems to have trouble starting after driving it for a while in the hot sun. I can always start it by popping the clutch. When I turn the key all the lights come on, the main relay clicks, the fuel pump primes, and the starter clicks but it doesn't turn the engine over.

multiple clicks= dead battery, just not enough amps to turn the starter
sigle click= bad solenoid

Hmm, interesting, starter is new and battery is only a few months old. I'll definitely pay attention next time it happens. The only other thing I can think of is starter kill relay for alarm but the relay isn't that old either.

doesnt the alarm relay only work on the starter signal wire? if so then the starter shouldnt click at all

The alarm is wired into the black/white for starter and black/yellow for ignition, both sourced from ignition harness under steering column.

i wouldnt think ud hear a starter click if the alarm relay was bad. because you hear a click, i would think bad solenoid. they are rebuilt. i had a alternator only last me 2 weeks, a new one has lasted over 2 years now

Just get a push to start switch and hook it up to the starter and see if it turns over.

It happened again, after about an hour drive. I tried to start it immediately after turning the car off and all I got was one click. I'm assuming the click is the gear pushing out from the starter towards the flywheel. But yes, if the starter kill relay was going bad I wouldn't expect to hear anything.

The starter is a rebuilt Denso, so if the solenoid is bad its a shame because Denso product have never failed me before. but there's always a first time.

the click is probably the solenoid, hardly the rest of the starter itself goes bad, its usually the solenoid.

the original was made by denso but probably the rebuild so some company that rebuilds starters.

if you have someone with you, try hitting the solenoid while someone tries to start it

i,m assuming that if you hear at lest one click that means that the starter gets the signal through the chain including the starter kill relay.check the ground between the engine and the body of the car.it should be good.very important.check the voltage drops on positive and negative side.if starter doesnt get all juice it needs it can not turn.. make the tests and that will reveal the trouble

Check your main grounds, batt. to chassis and chassis to engine, also check the batt. pos.(+)connection to the starter.

Next time it does not crank, try a bypass jump... https://honda-tech.com/forums/tech-misc-15/simple-diy-start-circuit-test-%5Bbypass-jump%5D-2961164/ 94

I'm definitely going to run all the tests next time it happens. I've put all the tools in my car to be ready. The last time it happened and I tried to start it all I got was a click coming from under the hood. Well a click and a whirl noise. The main relay clicks and the fuel pump primes just in case I didn't cover that before.
