97 gsr, stock engine, 91kmiles, all service up to date.
fuel pressure regulator went bad, fuel pressure was at 65 psi. i purchased an adjustable fpr with gauge. set it to 39 psi. got a cel for o2 sensor. reset ecu got a cel.etc etc etc.
car bogged and hesitated with cel on.
bought a brand new Denso o2 sensor, installed it correctly(checked and double checked my wiring). STILL HAVE A CEL AND CAR STILL DRIVES LIKE ****!
i check the code everytime it comes on after i reset ecu and sometimes i get code 1 oxygen content??? and sometimes i get the map sensor code 5 and the car goes into LIMP mode.
WTF? is my cat clogged? are my injectors bad?
i dont wanna take it back to the shop.
any thoughts????
thanks fellas

#1-did you replace the O2 because it was bad?
#2-if the sensor is after the cat - it is most likely the cat
#3-if your getting a map code check for any vacuum leaks they can easily make a car drive like ****. Spray some 2+2 Gum cutter in spurts around your vacuum hoses, if the rpms rise you found your leak. Good luck

DOES RUNNING RICH CLOGG YOUR CAT?
if i had a vacume leak my car wouldnt idle right, right?
my car idles like **** untill car is warm, then it idles right on 750 rpm.
what if i gut the cat will that help?
im really getting pissed at the gsr

running rich for a long periond of time will fry your cat. runs like **** when it cold. so its temp. related. check your iacv, coolant temp, and map sensor. make sure they working and in SPECS. thats all i can think of for now.

what are the SPECS for coolant temp sensor?
its only $30 so i think i will just replace it and see what happens.
do these usually go bad?

yes i set the fuel pressure with the vacume hose off. the gauge is brand new so i assume its right.
i just changed the coolant temp sensor tonight and everything seemed ok but the car wasnt totally cold when i started it so i dont know if everything really is ok.
in the morning ill start her up and i hope its not bogging.

still running rich, still bogging.
the idle will go to 750 when warm but its very lumpy and rough(car shakes)suddenly it will shoot up to 2000 or so for a sec every now and then at a stop light.
i cleaned the iacv
i bypassed the o2 sensor using a resistor and a capacitor and the cel is gone but it still runs like ****.
im not getting any cel. ive checked everywhere for vacume leaks.
my spark plugs look a little black from running rich, and my mileage sucks.
my fuel pressure is set at 39 psi
any other ideas?

Check your coolant. My radiator was empty earlier this winter and the car's idle was crazy trying to keep the car warm. Filled it back up and it runs fine.
