Default new motor, not much response

hey guys im kinda stumped, i just installed a motor that was just rebuilt, and put a new clutch in as well. at times when i come from a stop it seems as if i have to almost give it half throttle to get it to move barely any. it doesn't sound like the clutch is slipping (doesn't rev to the moon and go no where) its just like there is barely any throttle response. i did have the clutch resurfaced and for a month it did sit and accumulated about a 1 inch diameter bit of surface rust, but i didn't think it would cause it to slip. as well, im not totally sure i bled the clutch correctly, if the clutch wasn't bled correctly could it give me the symptoms of being dead until i got going? if anyone could give some input that would be great. thanks guys.

When you say that there's barely any throttle response, do you mean that the engine doesn't rev til 50% throttle, or the engine revs but the car doesn't move until 50% throttle...

Any check engine lights? Maybe you F'ed up your TPS at some point, or maybe there's a whole shitload of play in the cable or pulley???

And what happens when it starts to rev? Does it rev like you're at 50% throttle or does it start revving like it should at 1%??

had one check engine light when i started it up. it was code 14 for the eacv which was unplugged, plugged it up, reset the ecu and no more cels. when i rev it i can have the pedal pressed 50% of the way and it feels like im barely even pressing it and at some points like im not pressing it at all. ill double check the throttle cable. is the tps the one on top of the throttle body or is that the map sensor?

well i tightened up the throttle cable, it was def. loose. i also tried to bleed the clutch, it seems to be getting a little better, but its still not all there. for some reason i can get in the car, turn it on, and then kinda rev it to 3 grand or so, and it will almost die and then spruce right back up. at times when i try to drive it, now it seems as though the clutch is kinda slipping. i think im starting to confuse myself with all the possibilities.

well guys, i checked the ignition timing last night and it was super retarded. to get it to 16 degrees i ended up having to push the distributor all the way towards the firewall. since i have to have the distributor so far forward do you think the timing belt might have jumped a tooth?
