Default new motor but not solid compression???

just built my ls/vtec with a b16 head and jdm itr pistons. did a compression test and it was anywhere from 240 - 260 across the board. what would make it do that? do i need a valve job? the head is stock. and i dont' burn any oil so it can't be the bottom end.
