New guy...need some suggestions
Hey everyone my names bill i just joined the site...im just kinda gettin into cars now and was lookin to buy either a honda or a camaro or maybe a mustang...i just wanted to ask everyone on here why they think the hondas are best becuase ive heard some really good things? so what do you guys think about hondas compared to muscle cars and such? im really looking to get a good performer when it comes to drag racing more than handling...id like to win a couple at the stop lights here and there. thanks in advance.
I'll be nice to you since I know what kind of position you're in. First and foremost...I don't particularly have a problem with "street racing" when done in a more safe environment but there is NO FULL PROOF COMPLETELY SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO STREET RACE IN. There are a lot of members on this board that will flame you left and right for even mentioning "winning" at a stop light so just keep this in mind: If you do it...don't mention it on here...the rest of your questions you can ask away...keep the times and races to the track...now that we have that out of the way:
I used to be into domestic vehicles. Loved 'em. Bigger engines/body designs that someone would love no matter what year vehicle you got. Then the first foreign car that I bought was a Subaru Imprezza. Nothing special, just a basic front wheel drive H-4 motor setup. Fell in love with it from there on. Now maybe my case is special and it just clicked for me...and don't get me wrong I appreciate all kinds of cars because of the different potentials that each one has and everyone can do soemthing different with each one. But now I just want to stick with imported car models. I bought my Honda in May 05 and I'm addicted to it.
You ask why some people may like Honda's or any imported vehicle the best? My PERSONAL OPINION is just the fact that I feel they are longer lasting as long as they are taken care of. Don't get me wrong...any vehicle will last long if taken care of however I feel that imported models use a better quality set of materials to make their cars. Granted a lot of material is made in the US or assembled in the US but not all of it. It just seems to me that even if you beat on the car it will last longer than a domestic. It could just be my experience as well and I'm not trying to start a board war of which kinda car is the best...this is just my opinion. Granted imports are more expensive to repair when it comes down to it but in general I think they are a better built vehicle all around. In addition to that...from what I have seen. Honda/Acura/Toyota/Subaru from what I have seen hold a damn decent resale value for those times when you get tired of your car and want another one. It seems that even with higher mileage most imports hold a higher value then domestic vehicles..and this is loosely put however because the more you modify the car the more it WILL loose it's value contrary to popular belief.
The last thing I have to add is this: Most imports are quick but cannot be FAST. You would in fact get a faster more powerful car easier out of a domestic V6/V8 than you will a 4 cylinder import. Yes there are quite a few out there that have high end horsepower and torque from a Honda but they put a LOT of time and effort into their vehicle and probably double or triple the money of what someone making the same horsepower with a domestic would pay. All in all it comes down to preference and more than likely you'll "live and learn" if you will. What I mean by that is you may end up needing to go through one of each car and make a decision on your own...it may take more than one of each. I hope this helps and I know it's probably a lot of rambling but I wanted to just let you know at least what my take on the situation is.
