Negative effects of gutting cat?

Will i get any CELs, backfiring, or other negative problems if i gut my cat? The car is a 98 civic EX (D16Y8). thanks!

yes, you will get a cel and loose power...

i just gutted my high flow cat and no cel yet see thread in ek forum blown cat. sounds like a wet fart though.
