I got Skunk2 Stage 1 cams and Skunk2 Cam gears in today.

Right now, the Cam Gears are set to 0 both on the Intake and Exhaust side.
I set the VAFC to 5200rpm for VTEC X-over.

Its ok before VTEC, but once I hit vtec in my car, it LAGS like HELL! Takes days to get up.

Diablo Autosports did the installation, so I doubt there was an installation problem. They took my car for a spin afterwards and said that it's probly because of the Fuel Pressure. Its too low. They said I need a Fuel Pressure Regulator and raise the Pressure. What do you guys think?

As of right now, my car is running slower than stock in VTEC. Any help?

tho i dont recommend keeping it unplugged too long. an FPR will do wonders

 

Try moving up your vtec cross-over point to 5700 rpm. This should help you out.

 

yea your vtec is too low for for those cams.
kick it up till the crazy ;lag goes away.
youll know.

 

yes, vtec is wayy to low. kick her up into 5700, and do as what was said above, reset the ecu, and ur good to go.

and FPR is awesome

 

Ok. I'll try kickin up the Vtec X-over to 5600rpm and see if its any better. After I got the Cams in, I redlined it Twice to see how it was.

It was ok until I hit vtec and it was lagging like crazy from 6000rpm and up. It was loud and I heard Vtec engage, but the rpm would go up SLOWLY.

 

Let us know what happens.

 

ok. Just got back from the shop and we checked it out and it wasn't off a tooth. It was Straight. So that's not the problem...

I kicked up the Vtec X-over point to 5700rpm and its a bit better.

I can feel my car pull better from 3000rpm - 5700rpm compared to my stock cams, but in Vtec, it just kind's of hesitates. Not by alot, but it doesn't shoot up like its suppose to. We're gonna try to get an FPR in and up the Pressure on Monday and see if it pulls in Vtec like its suppose to.

Cam gears are still at 0, 0 but we might try +2 and -2 and see if its any better. Crossing finger* Hope it works and runs strong when its done.


After the FPR and if it STILL doesn't solve the problem, we're gonna take apart the motor and check closely again. Anyone know what the problem might be? Any tips or tidbits you guys wanna share?

 

Goddamnit!!! We installed the FPR and kicked up the pressure, but still has the same freakin problem!
Chris at Diablo Autoshop is checkin it out again right now.

Anyone know what the problem can be? The teeth are all lined up (Cam gears) and we added the FPR and guage, and now we're checkin the cam installation again...


Its just lagging in Vtec. Someone help...
