need help wit b16a1 swap in 89 ef
Well to start off I had a terrible miss but the car would run. Checked cap. rotor.plugs.and all good. looked at my coil and it was cracked pretty bad on the corner. I figured this was the culprit so I replaced the coil and ICM to ones out of a d16 single cam and started the motor. It ran until all the fuel was out of the rail then died. Now there is no fuel pressure and no spark. I am really confused as to why this is happening. I am running through all the tests now I just would like a little feed back if anyone knows of something that I can't think of please any help is good help. A little more info my ecu does come on. All the dash lights are working properly. Thermostat ground is tight. Fuel pump runs when connected is jumped main relay test good. And all fuses are good. Thanks for your help I am in a bit of a time crunch.
No cel I it is a b16a1 in an 89 EF hatch. I put the old coil back in and it started right up but it still has a terrible miss it is constant all the way through the rpm band. If someone could tell me if there is that two prong connecter to set ignition timing on an 89 because I can't find it and the Haynes I have does nothelp with a jDM motor. Oh end the ecu is a pr3
I just checked my wires and plugs and they test good. Is there any chance this could be caused by a plugged injector? But I have pulled all my injector wires and the car bogs down. Also another issue I can get the motor into time even advancing timing all the way won't get it quite there. The cam timing is still correct tho so I am really confused
I found the plug thank you. Now my timing appears to be set to 16 degrees but I still have a slight miss and the car bogs under light acceleration all the time but it not as bad under heavy throttle. I am so confused as to where the miss is coming from.

If you have the option you should switch the distributor, it seems like the computer is causing the miss by reading the timing incorrectly. Things to check on B-series depending on year; distributor, knock sensor, and crank sensor.
i swapped the 02s around and it is running better but still has a miss and bogs and light throttle. when I give it 20% throttle it runs better but still misses. I am trying to find a spare dizzy to try. Also when I jumped the connecter to set timing the cel light blinked twice then never came on again. I thought it was supposed to be on all the time. I am going to ohm test the injectors and check my conversion harness because some of the wires look old. also I did run both 02s so that is not the issue. car feels like it is fighting itself driving down the road.
Just a bit more info to put out there the car ran great until it got really cold outside then one night it started*bucking really bad and stalled several times and wouldn't start for a minute or so every time. Then I got it started the last time and I had to keep the motor revved to 4k to keep it running then I got it home and it sat overnight then I started it again and it had this terrible miss fire. It will run but hates to come off idle and struggles all the way thru the rpm band unless I'm giving it a lot of throttle and even then it still misses. I really appreciate any input
Ok I went through and pulled all my plugs while the car was running. there was definitely a noticable difference in all cylinders. I pulled my plugs and they were all gapped to .044 but all of my pistons looked wet. I did a compression test and all pistons held compression. can a bad coil cause weak spark instead off no spark because everything I read says that when a coil goes bad the car wont start. the car misses at all rpms and it bogs randomly throughout the rpm band. Any help is better than none
