Need help w/ e-manage support tool
I purchased the e-manage support tool and I am aware that I have to use this exact cable or it will not work to connect to my laptop. The problem is that I do not have a 9-pin port on my new dell laptop. I purchased a cable to convert the 9-pin greddy cable to a usb cable and connect the greddy to my usb port instead. I cannot communicate with the emanage now though. It is saying that it is offline. What do I need to do to get it to work with it now on the USB port instead of the com port? Is this possible to run the emanage off the USB port? Thanks for th help.
Your Serial to USB adapter will take a new com port number in Windows. Make sure that your software is looking for the correct com port. If the adapter is now on COM3 make sure your support tool is also pointing to COM3. A screenshot of your device manager might help.

Un fortunately I do not know of anyone that has successfully used a serial to USB converter on the E-manage cable, as its chipped..
I am currently using the E-manage on my IS300 and I use it via the serial port only.
You can try the com port trick by launching the Emanage software and going to the options menu and selecting COM Ports sub menus and selecting something other than COM1 .... perhaps COM2 or COM3.
Good Luck.

Notto sound foolish, but have you even attempted to call GReddy USA to answer your serial2USB converter cable dilemma? maybe they have a way for you to get it to work of you dont have a serial port on your laptop?
