Need help understanding countershaft bearing locknut torque spec ?

Default Need help understanding countershaft bearing locknut torque spec ?

Im replacing my countershaft bearing and it says to torque the countershaft in the repair manual to 80-->0-->80 ft-lbs. i never seen torques specs like that what does that mean exactly?

You torque it down twice to be certain everything is seated correctly on the shaft. Torque it once, then loosen it back up, then torque it again.
