i took apart the rear brake assembly for the driver's side rear. i put the new shoes on with all new springs. now, the drum will not go back on because it can't clear the shoes. i matched up the old part number on the old shoes to the new ones and they're the same so, i have the correct brake shoes. i also have a new set of drums that aren't genuine honda but, they slide over the passenger's side rear (which is still intact) with no problems.
so, the wrong shoes and drums i believe, would be out of the question. any other suggestions or tips.
I HATE WORKING ON SHOES AND DRUMS. pain in the fucken ***.

I hate those bastards as much as you do.
All you need to do is screw the adjusting star looking thing and make it shorter. That way the shoes will be closer. Also, sometimes you can jsut move the shoes around a little to get them in the right postion. Maybe the cable for the e-brake is too tight.

yeah, i would figure all cars would come with four wheel disc brakes since drums and shoes are so primitive.
but, i found out the problem. i latched on the upper spring to the wrong part of the shoe
taking the whole thing apart and putting it all back together wasn't fun
question: is the star in the middle with the spring self adjusting? that is after the drum has enough clearance to fit on the entire brake assembly?
thanks.
