Need help passing smog!
I just went to a smog shop and paid for a pretest. Cost me $20. Well my car didnt pass emissions and the guy said he'd look at it. He later told me I needed a new CAT. So I paid $500 plus parts and labor for a ULEV cat that was welded on. I then paid for another pretest and my car failed by 20 points on HC. Never again will I deal with ARABICS. Im almost out of money and I cant pass smog.Im in Southern Cali and looking in San Bernardino county area.Im looking for a smog hookup, all I can pay is $200 bucks. PM me thanks.
My scanner is not working. It doesnt pass by 20hc. All other emission readings are normal. I tried everything. Denatured Alcohol didnt help either.

Only deal with people you know that have good credibility to work on your car. $500bux for a new cat? You got ripped off, bro. Just get a regular cat from autozone or something for $60-$90 and have a welder weld it on or a shop weld it on for another $40-$60.
Its an 02 EP3. The cat runs about 500 bucks from the dealer. Pre OBD2 cars are easy to get to pass smog. OBD2 cars are hard. Arabics have a lot to do with it, they will rip you off 100% of the time. I thought the dude was mexican. Yes I took the car on the freeway before it was tested. Im tired of messing with this car Im just looking for a smog hookup.

Um, its illegal to swap the cat on a car that new, without documented proof that the stock unit failed.
Besides, the dealership would have replaced it for free if it had died. Emissions parts have an extended warranty. So do some safety parts.
