My 1998 EJ6 d16y6 is bogging and backfiring. It has no mods done to it and I get no power. Sometimes when I turn it in she just dies on me. And my idle is all messed up too. What do you think the problem could be??

Possibly could be ignition advance. Use a timing light. Do a tune up just to be thorough. Get a Helms manual if you're going to do this stuff yourself.

You say you haven't "modded" your car - as in upgraded - but have you made any adjustments or changed anything?

 

like what he said, get a timing light to see if you jump timing, that may cause backfireing and huge loss of power

 

i just have an intake and exhaust.
