Need help ITR wont start again
Well my car drove great since the last episode. It just started clicking again when I try and start it and its been fine for over a month. The only thing I did was take off my valve cover redo it and then put it back since then just clicks. Everything else is new battery starter solenoid. I check connections but you really cant tell since everything all covered up. Please help
start with your fuses...there are 2 fuses that will kill your car. 1) to the ignition (gas pump) in the kick panel its 20amp i think yellow 2) inside the engine bay. check your battery for juice, check your alternator through the battery terminals. keep us posted....
There is a ground on the valve cover. I was thinking I might have a grounding problem but not sure why it would just start overnight.
hey,
The car starts up if you leave it over night but extended periods of time +1week and your battery is dead..? The clicking appears to be a weak battery. Try jumping the car and see if it starts. If it starts then a weak battery is the case. What is causing the weak battery...? (yes, I read you have a new batt.) Well the way you can go about finding out is. Charge the battery so you can run some test. Remove the neg(-) battery cable from the terminal. Get a test light and jump the negative cable to the battery terminal (complete the connection between the cable and the battery using the testlight.) As long as the test light isn't a LED one the light should not be on. The radio memory, and factory alarm dont draw enough amps to light the bulb. If the light is lit then you have a parasitic draw. Leave the test light connected and pull fuses one by one. Until the light goes out. The fuse that makes the light go out is the system causing the unwanted current draw. That will give you a place to start.

Thanks for the info bigkvn77 will check out those steps. When the car is started on a daily basis then when its left for a few days that would be enough to weakin the battery correct?

Correct. If the battery is towards the end of it's life this can happen. Also if you have any equipment installed (such as car audio, lighting, etc) improperly, the battery may be slowly drained. In this case however, all signs point to a dead/dying battery.

Update. Well not good news and I hope my car isnt completely screwed. Now I checked all my connections cleaned the terminals and went to try and start my car and now theres nothing at all my cooling fan kicks on when I try and start my car. Does this means a fuse blew or did I fry my starter? Never heard of this
