My buddy got an air intake for his 98 Civic DX as a present but he already has one on it and he said that he would give it to me. It says it can fit 96-00 EX/DX/LX. I have an HX, does it really matter that much, or can i still put it on my car. The engine is a D16Y5. Any help is much appreciated.

 

My HX is a 98 also.

 

It doesnt really matter, as long as it fits on the car it will work.....

 

It won't fit, your buddies dx comes with the d16y7 engine. The throttle body is pointed up, the d16y5 has a throttle body attatched from the side, same as the d16y8.

dxnut is correct about it not fitting. happenes to me once on a an install i did for a friend of mines. i even argued wit the co. that it wouldnt fit.
but for your situation it wont fit
