I plan on installing a set of 2.25/2.5" Sprint performance springs onto my 1991 4G4D EX. I have made an attempt once before on my older hatchie, but chickened out because of fear of the strut blasting through me. Well this time I am determined to get it done.
I need your help to give some step by step instruction to make this an easy installation.
I understand that I will need a spring compressor unit to remove them but where to start is the big"?" and will need to take it to get an alignment.

Excellent write-up here. One thing you'll have to change. When putting the new springs on, just compress the new springs just like the old ones you took off, and put them over the strut. Assemble the top part of the assembly (as described in the above link), and tighten it down before removing the spring compressor.
Wish I could help you out in person. It's cake.

haha, the first time i took a spring off my friend held onto the top hat while i unbolted it. scared the **** out of us when it popped off. Then when we took it too a buddies shop he asked how the hell did you get this off without a spring compressor and told us all these horror stories of people dying from them and stuff.

fo sho bruddah...I new that the front springs had some compression to it, but I got some help from a buddy who said, lay the **** on the ground and it may shoot across the drive about a few feet....luckily he was right....The rears I believe are the one's you need to worry about...It even took me about 5 min. to work up the ***** to even unscrew the **** without the spring compressors.
*
FYI - Spring compressors don't work on the front struts for honda at least...they will only fit the big gapped rears.
