Need Help Failed Emissions Test!
Yesterday my car went for an emissions test end it failed. The car is a 94 Civic Si. The thing that I failed on was my "HC ppm" reading. The limit was 200 and my car did 216. This was only for the idle test, my car wasn't put on the rollers because it was to low. I also past everything else with flying colors. Does anyone know what this could be? I pulled the plugs they look fine, checked all vacuum hoses they were all connect, exhaust doesn't smell of anything and I was running 92 octane. My only mods are a CAI and a magnaflow muffler welded onto the stock piping. I am going to change the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and fuel filter(I know this probably won't help but I have to change them anyways). Hopefully someone knows what this could be. TIA!
Thats what I was thinking but how long does it take for it to warm up? I drove it for about 15 minutes before I brought for the test.
Why are you running 92 octane? Unless you NEED it, throw some 87 back in there and retest. HC are unburned fuel...and if your not taking advantage of the 92, that could be your source for a few more HydroCarbons.

SCC did a MOTO-VAC engine cleaning service on their project Miata. Dropped HC WAY DOWN! If you can't afford this, u might wanna try the ATF cleaning method, but give yourself about a week of some "throat-clearing" hard driving to make sure it's all out.

I was running 92 because I thought it burnt cleaner. Also when I did my cap and rotor last night I noticed that my timing is advanced all the way
. After reading some of the links I think that this might be causing me to fail, so Im going to try to put it to the stock timing. Thanks for the help guys
