Need help! Can't figure out whats wrong.
OK. Heres the problem. My car has a hard time starting sometimes. It will crank, but it feels like it is either choking like its not getting fuel or there is no spark. I have to step on the gas for it to start up most of the time when its cold, but even then the car wont rev up. It will sit at around 400 rpms, almost stalling out, blowing white smoke out the exhaust, bogging then it will slowly rev but bogging all the way up to around 4k rpms then it revs fine. It is like it is choking in the lower rpms. Once the car is warm, it will idle fine, actually alittle high like around 1100 rpms, but once i step on the gas to rev it, it bogs down to around 500 rpms almost stalling, then it will rev up. Somtimes it actually does stall. The thing is that this comes and goes. Somtimes it is all jacked up like i described above, but other times the car runs fine. It will start up with no problem, it will idle perfectly around 750 rpms, and it will rev fine. This problem just comes and goes and it is really pissing me off. I have changed the cap, rotor, plugs, wires, and fuel filter and still the problem wont go away. Could it be my distributor itself or the fuel pump going bad? All the connections to the distributor look good. A fuel pump and distributor are kind pricey and i don't wanna replace them if i don't have to. The thing i don't understand is why it would come and go like this. Any help would be appreciated. Thx guys.
I realy am not sure what could be doing this, but you could also check your coil, ignitor and your fuel injectors. Have you noticed what the weatehr conditions are when you get this problem? Is it damp out? If so it's is mora than likely an ignition problem...I hope this can somehow get you pointed in the right direction. Later!
