Default Need help!!

I just bought an 89 Crx Si. It has a D16 swap and is boosted. Also has an AEM fuel rail, adjustable cam gear, stage 2 clutch, 2.5" down pipe back exhaust, with cat delete. Other than that not sure what else is done to it. The problem I am having is the check engine light keeps coming on when I get on it in 3rd and up in the gears. Then I get a smell like it is burning something. The air fuel gauge reads that it is running rich.

I was wondering what I can do to fix this problem. This is my first Honda and need to learn the ropes about their quirks. If anyone could help me that would be great. Thanks.

Take it to your nearest Honda tuner and get some better readings thru the RPM range.

I'm fairly new to Honda's (been working on cars for over 20 years) and their are so many differences in these engines, that it's best to have someone (who knows what they are doing) take a look at it personally, like a Honda shop that does their own tuning.

Otherwise, if you can figure out what code is being produced, that would help get in the more appropriate direction. Does the light stay on, or does it immediately shut off after the heavy acceleration?

The light stays on. The dude I bought it from said that all he ever did was just flip the key quick and it would shut off. But that does not slove the problem. It keeps it from bogging down as I stay at highway speed. As long as I do not go above 4,500 rpm it wont come on.

I have a shop that can look at it, I just figured I would see if anyone would know anything about it, or had the same problem. Be nice to try and save the money for some other things.

Thats what I was thinking, just not sure. Sounds like I am just going to bite it and take it into the shop.
