Ok here's the deal......

The problem:

About a month ago I was pulling out of the campus parking lot when my car stalled suddenly. I tried to start it again and about the fith time it finally started up and I drove home. Until a week ago, I had almost forgotten about the incident seeing as how my car always starts up fine and it had only happend that one time. Well last week it did the same thing, but this time it wont start. Since I dont know **** about wiring and my friend did all of that, I had no clue what it could be. I checked to see if there was spark, but no. So I figured it was the dist., but we had just replaced the cap and rotor when we installed the engine 5 months ago. Anyways I took it right up the street to tire kingdom because they said they could do a diagnostic and I really didnt want to bring it to Honda because they like to charge out the ***. Anyways I talk to the guy and he says their is no spark and there is no power going to the dist. from the two wires that connect to the ecu. He says that I need to replace the comp. and that they are 80% thats what it is!!!

Solution:

Could it really be a whole bad ecu or is it just wiring problems? He said if it were him he would just replace the dist. but that baffels me because he said that there is no power even running to it from the ecu.

Bitching:

I just replaced the cap and rotor, so I dont know how the dist. could go bad, but then again I dont know how many miles have been put on the motor. Also, I hate taking it to these ******* ******** because they act like I dont know the first thing about my car, when I infact swapped the damn motor in!! They say "You need to take it to a specialist in Japanese motors and let them handle it!" What a croc of ****!!!

Ohh and did I mention that I leave next week for Tallahassee for school and need this done before then!

I don't think it is likely your ecu is bad. It could be the wiring, check that.

Also, your dizzy could be the problem despite that fact you replaced the cap and rotor. I had a problem like this not too long ago. It drove me crazy because the car would start and run fine one minute the next minute it wouldn't start at all, and sometimes it would start and immediately stall.

Turned out the bearing in the dizzy was bad. I finally figured it out because at one point I could hear the bearing scrapping or grinding slightly while the engine was running. Replaced the whole thing and the car ran better than it had in months. Took care of all my weird electrical problems too.

 

My buddy just a had a problem like this.

It was his coil. Replace the coil, it should be straight.

 

lol.....just got that same answer from another guy!! Thanks....I feel relieved. So I am pretty safe in just getting a new dist. and it will be fine? Also someone told me that i would need a usdm dist. or else I would have to re-wire? Is this true?

 

Whats a code 18? The mechanic said I was throwing this code, but he said it wasnt on the list?!?
