Default Need advice on d16y8?

I recently blew a rod in my 98 civic ex. Is it better to swap it out, or rebuild? If I swap it, what will fit in its' place? can I only use a d16y8, or something else? I'm obviously confused........ Any help is appritiated!

You can usually get d16y8 shortblocks pretty cheap. I would just swap it out

If you snapped a rod in your motor more than likely the block is toast and at the very least the cylinder is messed up completly.. I would look for a new short block..

Can I only swap with d16y8, or will another engine fit?

Y7 will fit, so will Y5 (same obd generation as the y8)

You could swap in a z6 or damn near any other D16 block too, but there will be slight issues with sensors on the older blocks
