I bought a '97 Civic LX about a year ago and it hasn't given me any problems until now. When starting out in first gear, the car kinda shakes/jerks even with smooth clutch application. I've been driving stick for 6 years, so I don't think it is me. Is this symptom what is called 'chatter'? It happens a little bit going from first to second gear, and I believe it would also happen going thru all the gears but the feathering span for 3rd, 4th, and 5th is much narrower. I figure it's something with the clutch. I appreciate the help in advance.

it sure does sound like the clutch is pretty much finished...........time to change it...
