Default MZR infos for teh Mr E.G.

I wanted to let Mr EG in on some info for a project he was thinkng of, but i cant post in the appropriate section or send IMs.

So here it is...

The 2.3L Turbo DISI engine code is L3-VDT, and NA-VVT version L3-VE. Bore 87.5mm, stroke 94mm both. The blocks are the same for both, aluminum, closed deck with iron sleeves cast in. This same block has held over 1300hp. (Bergenholtz, Karagiannis et al) Bottom end is secured with a bearing cage. Turbo engine is all forged internals w 22mm floating wrist pins and moly coated pistons, vs pressed pins, lightweight rod/piston combo for the NA version. The head also has different cooling passages and obviously provisions for direct injectors and high pressure fuel pump. The crank is strong, forged, and *isnt* a weak spot, despite whats been said. It uses larger diameter journals (54mm?) than the NA version for the increased torque load. You CAN get 400whp easily on stock internals, but remember the Direct Injection has been paired up with a relatively high factory compression ratio, which means you MUST USE RACE FUEL for high boost! A couple people have been boosting real high on big turbos, even the factory unit, and although AF's are good theyre bending rods and being all confused as to why. ..because fuel is NOT suitable for nearly 10:1 compression and 25+psi!! Thats just chemistry. Lower the compression ratio for big turbos and sketchy fuel. The rods are fine, just dont detonate. best of luck!
