My velocity stack
Summitracing.com - RS akimoto velocity stack $20
Orchard Supply Hardware - Metal screen $3.00
I just double screened the velocity stack. Good for the track and cruising the neighborhood.

basically its for high performance/turbo race cars for sorta ram charging the air, on a stock car there wont be much advantage,on a turb you got the compressor sucking the air at higher speeds so this helps, note on your pic by the battery (near front left i think???) so youll basically be sucking hotter air than stock and probably not improving your performance at all/none/reducing it (well see) this is the IDEAL application for them, where they are in open air on a turbo charged car,

the best thing you should do, would be to get someone(or yourself if you can weld) is to find the ideal intake length for your engine(i.e tuned intake) THIS should increase power more and then if ya wanna you could always put your velocity stack on that lol, theres plenty of books and sites that will tell you the formulas for doing it,i used a book by this english guy(quite thick with an orange cover, cant remember name of guy book is called advanced engine technology but its VERY good! he also covers everything else to do with engines)
hope that helps

Thanks for the reply. I got cooler air getting scooped up through that hole. I cut the panel so that the air hits the bend like a skate ramp and shoots upward toward the hole. Kinda rigged but the intake pipe after a long drive is always pretty cool in temperature and even cooler at the filter end. Oh and this was with a filter. THIS VELOCITY STACK IS JUST FOR LIMITED DRIVING.
