being a true lover of the d engine i have decided to build myself a mini me engine im starting of with a d15b8 short block z6 head and some 16v pistons with matching crank

my questions are
Is changing the crank nessisary
are there any cheap options to these small rods
16v pistons or dohc zc pistons

my goals are
130+whp anything cheap that will get me reliable 160+whp would be awsome
dd reliable
91octane
all moter

info is much apeciated along with opinions

 

Cheap & 160hp? Not happening.
A mini-me does not involve swapping out any parts of the block.
And what are 16V pistons?
No amount of N/A power through a D-series warrants changing out the rods.
Why would you need to change out the crank?

Methinks you have much more researching to do. Prepare to be disappointed with all that reliable naturally aspirated D-series power.

 

cant do 16o cheaply huh. because i believe i was being modest with my 130hp using compression to achieve that. what about simple things like if i ported /port matched my head, did a old school water meth kit, took the cat out, just that theoretically could get me into 140-150 for relatively cheap. as for the rods q' aspirations are for NA i will probly end up turbo'ing it later down the rode so having even a little stronger rod could not hurt if i do or dont. a little research that i did is that its arguable what pistons are in the b8 this is my first d15 so i personally cant be sure till i pull the head off. 16v pistons are frum a 16v engine(cuz my b8 is only 8v and i want to put a 16v head on) ur right why would i need to change the crank ah but thats the same q i asked loops here with things u post i think ur just a debby downer that would rather put people down than put some actual knoledge down into ur posts

Trying to build up a D15 N/A is absolutely stupid if you're looking for power. The dollar to horsepower ratio makes it so. After you maybe get your 135hp the first time a CRV leaves you at a light you'll regret spending all that money.

 

im not looking to race with this engine just eficaincy and fun i have a turbo z6 to blow crvs out of the water. in reno trade is verry big for us import guys so i actually havent spent much on any of my builds all of the mods i mentioned can be done verry cheaply mostly just cost time and tools mayby some welding like i said before i dont know everything im just getting tired of youre negative posts and to ad to it making 135 hp on a d15 is not bad 1/3 increase in hp on na is prettyg good in my book

 

Who said anything about racing? Just wondering how you have a boosted Z6 and seem to know nothing about "building" a D15. I doubt you can pull it off. But there is a , gasp, all-motor forum where people have been trying to squeeze power out of these all the time. Don't understand the need to post when all you have to do is find one of the build threads and copy it.
