so what happened is i bought the ngk irridium spark plugs and installed them in my car i tighted some really really tightly.is that BAD?
will screwing spark plugs too tightly damage the engine
yes i made sure the plugs were correct for my car!

i am asking because my engine started doing some weird stuff. i dont know exactly how to describe it but it would almost turnoff but not turn off? it would kind of choke for a sec or 2.
i think it might be because i had to yank one of the spark plug wires out since it was so stuck and took me 15 mins to take out.
im thinking i damaged it internally and that my second cylinder is not working and thats why its acting that way but i would like the more knowledgeable car people to give me their opinion PLEASE.
and yes i will obviously change the wires just in case

 

Are they gapped properly?

 

ngk spark plugs normally come pre-gapped especially if your buying the iridium's defenitely check to make sure though you never know, also how tight is too tight? like did you take out your plugs to make sure nothing was bent or broke or just didnt quite sccrew in right, and make sure you put your wires back on correctly, if you do decide to buy new wires i recommend part # he76 special order at a parts store, pricey but really high quality oe wires

 

there is a torque recommendation on spark plugs as well, and as far as i know if you over tighten them the piston will make contact and close the gap

 

not only that... If you over tighten them you run the risk of ceizing them to the head later on.... Why would you tighten them so much?
