does anyone know if this guy can be used as a stand alone? its not just an add on to the 6AL Ignition? Or I can use it on a DIS system?

 

That is an ignition amplifier with boost timing control. That is all you need. You can also go with an external coil and a modified cap to go with it.

 

MSD makes a basic BTM unit that's separate from a 6 box (the 6BTM is just an integrated version), but neither can be used on a DIS multiple coil ignition (unless you use one per coil). They do however have several ignition products for DIS multiple coil pack designs, you can read all about them at msdignition.com. Their multichannel boost retard controllers are pretty powerful from what I hear.
