Default MPFI: Is it possible to run with the crank angle wires hooked up wrong and no codes?

I'm asking this because my car's ignition timing is severely retarded. Nothing I do will get it to the middle red mark. I read that issue of SCC were they had done the MPFI swap and and said if you get the two crank angle wires mixed up, your timing would be retarded. But is this possible? Can my car be running like this and throw no codes? Any help would be appreciated.

By the way, this is for a d15b2 motor.

Alright think. If your car's ecu thinks the crank is at #1 TDC and in fact its at BDC that would be bad right? Thats worse case seneriano but most likely not the case since the engine woulden't run. I doubt you could hook up the sensor wrong and not get a code. Anyone else.

EDIT: Have you tried rotating the dristirbutor to change the timing? Am I thinking too old school? That wont work on my DOHC but hey its a swap anything can happen. Ok I cant read, what changed to make your timing change? Timing belt change? if so thats a whole diffrent story.

when i bought the car from the old hag she said that she got the timing belt changed at midas and i think they put the timing belt on wrong, because when i took the timing belt cover off there was a nail and it was basically scratching the edge of the timing belt. but the actual timing belt looked ok,( i know i know that i should change the timing belt soon) I just don't have any funds to do that yet. I bought a timing belt to check the timing and it is completely retarded. no matter what i do when i rotate the distributor the timing gets no where close to being normal. (and yes i know how to use a timing light, i used to work on my 2000 si all the time and adjust the timing perfectly.

Follow the wires and make sure they're not mixed up. If they are, it's bad and it should be fixed immediately!! I'm not sure about what SCC said, I wouldn't trust them for much in terms on technical information. (Personally, I don't see how such wires could get mixed up. If simple wires are messed up, who knows what else might be! ~~~> no offense intended).

Check all your wires first, then move onto causes such as improper timing belt installation (improper cam timing). A proper MPFI installation should result in the same timing characteristics as before the swap. Please don't settle for a crappy installation (many people seem to around here).
