mounting obd0 dizzy on z6 head for mini-me
Can someone take a picture of how they mounted their obd0 dizzy on a z6 head for a mini-me swap.. I cant seem to figure how to get it on there and none of the bolt holes line up even close to where the timing should be.. Thanks
you have to cut one of the legs to make it reach, and only use two bolts ot hold it in place.
I found some of the pics I took a while back
Hope this helps

Im confused here.. I see the pics you posted and it looks like just the right and left legs are using bolts.. Do I need to use bigger washers to hold it in place.. Also what leg do I have to cut to make it fit.. From the pics it looks like you really dont have much timing adjustment at all, Is it enough to get the timing into spec..
yes, I only use 2 bolts. I cut the left leg, I don't have any pics fo the cut but basically you cut it like this
You can get bigger washers to reach and hold better but I think it may work withou. when I cut mine I did not cut enought to tune the timing, but everything runs fine, just use your judgement on that Either way I am converting to OBD1. THis is teh way most peopel do it. THis is only on the left leg, the right leg hole does not reach so it holds on from the outside edge.
I have seen some poeple say that once they cut one leg the other holes reach, but I did not do that for me.
good luck

Cool.. I see how its done now.. Let me throw this out there.. I havent ever pulled the entire dizzy apart before but is it possible to put the obd0 "guts" into an obd1 dizzy.. meaning just using the "leg" portion of the obd1 dizzy so that cutting isnt needed then..

I read somewhere here that some guy did it once but no one knows exactly who, with that everyone else said it is difficult, if you think about it you will have to make sure all the wires go to the proper components of the dizzy, it would be less hassle to just repin for a OBD1 dizzy
Hold on.. I thought you couldnt use an obd1 dizzy on an obd0 computer because of something with the sensors in the dizzy dont work the same.. If all I have to do it repin an obd1 dizzy to use an obd0 plug then thats great.. I have an obd1 dizzy at my house that I was going to use for my obd0-obd1 conversion.. Let me know if I can just repin the wires and use it.. Thanks
yes, as I was told, all you have to do is repin, I am currently working on that now, cause I tried it and car does not start.

A lot of people say to just match the wires, but now I am being told one of the wires may be connected wrong because not all wires are color match. Anyways, you can follow it up on there.

OBD-0 Dizzy = 16 tooth reluctor wheel.
OBD-1 Dizzy = 24 tooth reluctor wheel.
The OBD-1 dizzy is simply not directly compatible with an OBD-0 ECU no matter how it is wired.
